Chromebook Hardware Reset
Below are the steps taken to perform a hardware reset for your Chromebook. This process helps with basic hardware issues with the keyboard, microphone or camera.
- Click shutdown on the Chromebook and allow it to turn off completely.
- While off, press and hold the circular "refresh" key on the top row near the center. Keep the key held down until a later step.
- Press the power on key for a full second and release. The Chromebook will start to boot but may take another few seconds compared to normal.
- After a short period, the screen will turn back on and say "chromeOS" as it normally does. You may now release the refresh key and log in when prompted.
