Chromebook Hardware Reset

Chromebook Hardware Reset

Below are the steps taken to perform a hardware reset for your Chromebook. This process helps with basic hardware issues with the keyboard, microphone or camera.
  1. Click shutdown on the Chromebook and allow it to turn off completely.
  2. While off, press and hold the circular "refresh" key on the top row near the center. Keep the key held down until a later step.
  3. Press the power on key for a full second and release. The Chromebook will start to boot but may take another few seconds compared to normal.
  4. After a short period, the screen will turn back on and say "chromeOS" as it normally does. You may now release the refresh key and log in when prompted.
